Since 1888, the year the Flensburg Brewery was founded, the “plop” of Flensburg Pilsner has been an integral part of the great taste of the beer – and not only in Northern Germany. The tasty-aromatic fresh beer from Flensburg has many fans across Germany, Europe, South America and even Asia.

The enthusiastic consensus of beer aficionados from around the world has some very good reasons: A successful combination of tradition and innovation is the foundation for the success of what continues to be a free and independent private North German brewery. This pride of the region is brewed in Flensburg with real coastal barley from Schleswig-Holstein, in premium-quality and of course, in accordance with the German Purity Law of 1516. When other breweries switched over using the crown cap, Flensburger remained true to the proven swing top and developed it even further. The closure so typical for the “Flens” bottle spares the environment more than 130 million bottle caps per year and the hardworking reusable bottle is refilled over 30 times in its long life. The result is that the brewery has been awarded the prestigious "Environmentally Friendly Operation" several times and is consistently certified year after year. With a capacity of one million swing top bottles per day, the bottling plant is one of the largest and most modern worldwide and with the special wort boiler "Merlin," the "hometown beer of the Northern Germans” can be brewed so gently that all the vitamins and nutrients remain intact – a reason to enjoy the outstanding brew even more.

With a staff of over 160 and an output of 500,000 hectolitres per year, “Flens” is a market leader among Germany's beers in swing top bottles. Whether as a classic "Pilsener," mild "Gold" fine aromatic and dark "Dunkel" or alcohol-free "Frei" – Flensburger offers a beer to suit every taste. The lovers of wheat, bock and cellar beer can also choose from an excellent Flensburger brewed to their precise liking.
