Distelhäuser Brauerei
Tauberbischofsheim
In the country side, on the banks of Tauber river and directly on "Romantische Straße" ("Romantic Road") there is a small village called Distelhausen, a district of Tauberbischofsheim.
As the name suggests, "Distelhäuser Brauerei" (brewery of Distelhausen) is situated here. This brewery has been owned by Bauer family since 1876.
With an annual output of about 185,000 hectolitres and 147 employees, "Distelhäuser Brauerei", idyllically situated in the valley of Tauber river in Northern Baden, is one of the medium-sized breweries in the German beer sector.
The sales area of "Distelhäuser Brauerei" comprises a radius which is tangent to the German states Baden-Wurttemberg, Bavaria (Franconia) and Hesse.
In Distelhausen, 17 different kinds of beer are currently produced according to traditional regional brewages. Due to the long-lasting and trustful co-operation with domestic business partners and gastronomy and because of the tight coupling with regional suppliers from agriculture, industry and services, "Diestelhäuser Brauerei" considerably supports regional economy in Franconia of Tauber River.
In 2009, "Distelhäuser Brauerei" was the only brewery which received the golden "Bundesehrenpreis (federal prize)" of DLG (German Association for Agriculture). "Distelhäuser Brauerei" became "Brewery of the year 2009".
